Workshops and Individual Consultations

SKIP – James Cook University

SKIP (Skills for International Postgraduates) is a course for international postgraduate students that helps them develop their academic writing and critical thinking. It is compulsory for international students in their first year of postgraduate study, and is run over twelve weeks or as a month-long intensive program, depending on location. It also provides students with three hours of editing assistance for theses. SKIP has been included as an example of good practice because:

  • It was identified by project participants as such.
  • It received a commendation from TEQSA in its 2012 audit report.

SKIP addresses English Language Standards 3 and 4.
