Most universities in Australia offer a range of e-learning opportunities. These are available on university websites in a number of different formats:
- Discipline-specific online study materials. The University of South Australia has a wide range of such materials listed under the different faculties, through its L3: Language, Literacies and Learning initiative. The University of Sydney’s WRiSE online environment is an example that focuses on report writing in science and engineering.
- Generic study opportunities available online or through the institution's learning management system. The University of Melbourne's AIRport is an example of one such resource, although it also contains discipline-specific material.
- Online list of external resources. Curtin University’s UniEnglish resource pages are an example of this.
- Externally provided English language development activities. For example, RMIT uses the services of Smarthinking as an academic support service (as does Open Universities Australia).
